Nancy Selvin
SELVIN REDUX From 3 PM to 6 PM Sunday April 25th
April 1st - 30th 2010
New bottles and paintings. Refreshments in the studio garden.
Nancy Selvin's clay forms hint at the familiar, re-examining the spaces we inhabit........the bowls on a counter top, the bottles on a sill. Recorded in the clay surface is an investigation of process, toolmarks and the haptic application of color. Nancy Selvin is an independent studio artist living and working in Berkeley CA. Ms. Selvin received her M.A. in 1970 from the University California, Berkeley where she studied with Ron Nagle and the late Peter Voulkos. Her list of honors include two National Endowment Artist's Fellowships and in 2003 she was awarded a California Arts Council Fellowship. Ms. Selvin's works are in numerous public and private collections including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian, Arizona State University Ceramic Research Center, the Mint Museum, Charlotte NC, the Oakland Museum, Oakland CA, the Nora Eccles Museum, Logan Utah, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The University of Iowa Museum of Art and the Microsoft Art Collections in Seattle and Mountain View CA.
