Bio
Nancy Selvin is an independent studio artist living and working in Berkeley CA. She has taught for over thirty years at colleges and workshops internationally including a stint at her alma mater UC Berkeley. She is currently teaches at The California College of the Arts (CCA) in Oakland.
Ms. Selvin received her M.A. in 1970 from the University California, Berkeley where she studied with Ron Nagle and the late Peter Voulkos. Her list of honors include two National Endowment Artist’s Fellowships and in 2003 she was awarded a California Arts Council Fellowship. She presently serves on the Alameda County Public Art Commission and is past President and current Trustee for Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle Maine.
Selvin’s ceramics have been written about extensively, including numerous reviews and articles in Ceramic Art and Perception, Artweek, Studio Potter and The Kansas City Review among others. Additionally, her work has appeared on the cover of American Craft Magazine and Ceramics Monthly.
Ms. Selvin’s works are in numerous public and private collections including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian, Arizona State University Ceramic Research Center, the Mint Museum, Charlotte NC, the Oakland Museum, Oakland CA, the Nora Eccles Museum, Logan Utah, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The University of Iowa Museum of Art and the Microsoft Art Collections in Seattle and Mountain View CA.
