Artist Statement
Whether it’s cast concrete, bent plywood or steel, Jeremy Kaplan’s minimalist style celebrates the intersection and points of tangency between straight lines and curves. His most current work includes a line of indoor and outdoor concrete tables that are inset with bamboo plywood.
CONCRETE TABLES:
Jeremy’s first casting project is his largest to date, when he cast a hollow center 850 lbs. concrete lounge chair. Inspired by the results, but also interested in not requiring a crane to move each piece, he started casting smaller side tables and coffee tables. The tables are cast from multiple pours that provide a unique strata that runs throughout the piece. The surface is sanded to a granite like smoothness.
